Food recall expanded

Food recall expanded CHQR Newsroom 3/9/2010

the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is expanding a recall of products that may be contaminated with salmonella. Earlier this week, the recall focussed on mostly pretzel products that contain hydrolysed vegetable protein, or HVP, made by ‘Basic Foods Flavours’ based in Las Vegas.

Now, some dry soup mixes and potato chips distributed across Canada have been added to the list because they also contain HVP.

There have been no reported illnesses in Canada in relation to the recall.

HVP is found in thousands of processed foods.
